I received a sample tube of this scrub in the November bellabox which had the Botanical Beauty theme.
Rating: Give it a miss.
This body scrub is an all-natural coffee scrub that aims to revive skin, fight signs of ageing and leave it glowing and soft. The scrub contains a number of essential oils from lemongrass, grapefruit and juniper berry, as well as being free of things like alcohol, sulphates, parabens and other harsh chemicals. It can be used on both the face, neck and body. To use you rub on the skin gently and then rinse off but for best results it’s recommended to leave on for 10 minutes.
There are some really amazing coffee scrubs out there. Ones where you open up the packet and it’s just like walking into a cafe and smelling delicious roasting coffee beans, yum!
Unfortunately this scrub is not one of them. When I opened up the packet there was no, or very little, coffee smell. Actually it oddly smelled a little bit more like metho than anything, which is a bit odd. It also wasn’t very abrasive for a scrub. That is probably a good thing if you’re going to use it on your face, but the abrasive pieces that were in the mix were rather large and personally I would prefer more refined pieces. Anyway, long story short I didn’t feel like it really worked as a body scrub. I did leave it on my skin for a bit and because of all of the essential oils in it, it did feel quite nourishing on my skin so that is a plus at least. But overall, you can find many other coffee scrubs that do a much better job.
If you are interested in trying this out it costs about $12.95 for a 100mL tube. But really, look elsewhere.
